Aims & Objectives

The Textile Association (India) works along a number of specific objectives such as:

• To promote the use of scientific knowledge in textiles, from fibers to garments.
• To implement programmers of continued education in textile technology and management.
• To help members acquire textile qualification towards improved job performance.
• To honor all those who contribute significantly to the growth of Indian textiles.
• To analyze socio-economic environment for developing strategy recommendations.
• To develop a sense of brotherhood amongst the fellow textile professionals.
• Organization of lectures, seminars, workshops and conferences to disseminate useful information on topics of current interest to different segments of the industry.
• Publication of a Journal of Textile Association (JTA) devoted to new work in applied industrial research in all areas of textiles, for members and subscribers.
• Publication of lowcost booklets and books of practical value to the practicing professionals, technologists and managers in the Indian Textile Industry.
• National level recognition for individuals each year by awarding Honorary Membership to the eminent individual for their contribution towards the growth of textile industry and Honorary Fellowship (FTA) to the eminent scientist & researchers for significant contribution in academic field.
• Award of National level Service Gold Medal to an individual member or Office Bearer in recognition of their services and Awards of Service Memento to members or Office Bearers in recognition of their services to the Association at Unit level.
• Award to the author of the best textile book written during the year.
• Recommendation of policy alternatives to the Government of India and to the industry at appropriate times. Government Departments have started recognizing our Association and various Units located at the Textile Centers. We have been consulted in their policy making process by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India.
• Annual scholarships to economically weaker but merit holder Textile Students.
• On the International front, The Textile Association (India) has been the founder member of the Federation of Asian Professional Textile Association (FAPTA) and Representatives of The Textile Association (India) has been part of International Advisory Committee of FAPTA in past.
• The Textile Association (India) also conducts the distance education programme by examinations to grant Diplomas and Certificates of competency to the persons working in the Textile Industry by examination or by application and awarding Graduate Membership of Textile Association (GMTA) and Associate ship of Textile Association (ATA) as technical professional qualification for the purpose of job to subordinate posts and services under the central government in the appropriate field.
• The Textile Association (India) organizes annual All India Textile Conference which is being attended by a large number of textile professionals from all over and has been inaugurated by the Hon’ble President and the Prime Minister of India in the past.
• Organization of socio-cultural activities as local level events in each Unit of the association.
• To add the value to our activities and for proper dissemination of knowledge to its member and Indian Textile Industry as a whole, the association has launched web site and it is fully functional to enhance their potential for spread of textile knowledge.
• Textile Association (India) has donned the role for development of sector since last many years. The phenomenal steady growth achieved by TAI has been through the true democratic spirit of a vast number of dedicated professionals who have worked tirelessly for the cause of Textiles.
• TAI-Delhi has received confirmation of support from Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India for its activities to be conducted in near future in association with them. It would significantly benefit TAI-Delhi’s Members and Organizations associated with it in getting financial assistance for participation in Exhibitions & Conferences within & Outside India.
• The Textile Association (India) – Delhi is in communication with Ministry of Textiles and Ministry of Skill Development along with other agencies to work on Government of India's Skill Development Programme. TA(I)-Delhi has also coordinated with all other units of The Textile Association (India) to work in this programme.
• The Textile Association (India)-Delhi has supported and has raised its voice strongly in favor of Industry's concern over implication of GST and other matters. In the past too, TAI-Delhi has strongly taken issues like compulsion of ZLD Water Treatment Plant for Textile Processing Units and other such matters.
• In continuation of TAI - Delhi’s quest to provide its members a platform for brainstorming on new challenges faced by the textile industry and finding solutions, we have planned to provide technical consultancy services to its members on all possible segments of textile and apparel arena. TAI-Delhi invites its members to join the cluster of experts who can provide information on emerging topics and solutions to the contemporary issues in day-to-day context in order to work out strategies required for the textile and garment industry.
